CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WNCN) — After a regular season in which North Carolina baseball lost just two games at home, the team is now ready to make a run through the Atlantic Coast Conference tournament and beyond.
The top-seeded Tar Heels take on the No. 12 seed Pitt Panthers at 3 p.m. Thursday at Truist Field in Charlotte in a Pool A game.
They will be without star outfielder Vance Honeycutt, who is out with back spasms, but UNC, with a high-powered offense and stellar pitching staff, is still heavily favored.
The Panthers lost to No. 8 Wake Forest Wednesday afternoon by a score of 8-1.
Win or lose, the Tar Heels will play the Demon Deacons Friday night in the last game of Pool A play.
