SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WNCN) — Less than a week after the North Carolina men’s basketball team was victorious in Syracuse, the women’s team is hoping to have the same success.
The No. 9 Tar Heels (23-4 overall, 11-3 Atlantic Coast Conference) face the Orange (10-15, 4-10) Thursday night in Syracuse. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. at JMA Wireless Dome.
UNC’s current five-game winning streak propelled them into the top 10 in the latest national AP rankings. The Tar Heels’ most recent victory was a one-point win over rival NC State in Chapel Hill Sunday. Reniya Kelly scored a game-high 23 points.
The Orange have lost their last two games, including Sunday at Cal. In that 75-69 defeat, Georgia Woolley scored 23 points to lead Syracuse. She also notched five rebounds and three assists.
The Tar Heels stay on the road for their next game. UNC is scheduled to play at Louisville on Sunday afternoon.
