DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) — There’s a big rivalry basketball game happening at Cameron Indoor Stadium Thursday night that could have postseason implications, but Cooper Flagg won’t be featured in it.
The No. 16 Duke Blue Devils (21-7 overall, 12-4 Atlantic Coast Conference and No. 8 North Carolina Tar Heels (25-4, 13-3 ACC) face off in women’s basketball Thursday night in Duke’s last home game of the regular season. Tipoff in Durham is set for 7 p.m.
The Blue Devils have been on a little skid as of late, losing two of their last three games, leading to them sliding down to No. 16 in this week’s AP poll. But they’re coming off a resounding 80-49 win over Syracuse Sunday. Freshman Toby Fournier scored 22 points off the bench to lead Duke, and she also pulled down six rebounds.
The Tar Heels have won their last seven games, jumping up a spot in this week’s AP rankings. They edged out a 79-75 win at Louisville on Sunday even without Alyssa Ustby, who didn’t make the trip due to a knee injury. Lanie Grant and Trayanna Crisp both came off the bench and scored 19 points for UNC.
Duke travels to Tallahassee to face Florida State Sunday to end the regular season. UNC will host Virginia Sunday for the Tar Heels’ last contest before the ACC tournament.
