GREENSBORO, N.C. (WNCN) — The North Carolina women’s basketball team’s first test of the season is one of the toughest in the sport.
The No. 14 Tar Heels (3-0) will battle the No. 2 Connecticut Huskies (2-0) on Friday night in Greensboro. Tipoff at the First Horizon Coliseum is set for 6 p.m.
UConn, the most successful program in women’s college basketball, has another highly-rated freshmen class to complement All-American Paige Bueckers. The fifth-year star is currently averaging 17.5 points per game so far.

This is the second season in a row the Huskies and Tar Heels are meeting. UConn won last year’s matchup in Uncasville, Conn. by a score of 76-64 and hold an overall 8-5 record in the all-time series. UNC’s last win over UConn was in 2007, a 82-76 win in Chapel Hill.
Friday’s game is the Tar Heels’ last before they leave the country for their Thanksgiving week tournament. UNC is playing in the women’s bracket of this year’s Battle 4 Atlantis in the Bahamas. Their first game in the event is against Ball State on Nov. 23.
