DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) — It’s time once again for Duke and North Carolina to face off on the football field and battle for the Victory Bell.
The Blue Devils (4-0) host the Tar Heels (3-1) in the Atlantic Coast Conference opener for both teams. The game is scheduled to kick off at 4 p.m. at Wallace Wade Stadium.
Under new head coach Manny Diaz, Duke has yet to lose this season and is looking to start 5-0 for the first time since 1994. After scoring exactly 26 points in each of their first three games this season, the Blue Devils reeled off 45 last Saturday at Middle Tennessee, winning that game in a rout.
UNC, meanwhile, is on rocky ground after giving up 70 points in a loss to James Madison at home last weekend. That “embarrassing” loss, as head coach Mack Brown put it, led to questions on the future of the 73-year-old Brown as the leader of team. But earlier this week, the coach said he and his players are ready to put that behind them and face Diaz and the rival Blue Devils.
Both teams continue ACC play next weekend, with UNC hosting Pitt in Chapel Hill and Duke traveling to Atlanta for a night game against Georgia Tech.
