LOS ANGELES, CA — North Carolina’s road to redemption in the NCAA Tournament continues.
The No. 1 Tar Heels (29-7) and the No. 4 Alabama Crimson Tide (23-11) face off in a Sweet 16 matchup in the west regionals in Los Angeles. The game, which can be seen right here on CBS 17, was originally scheduled to tip off at 9:39 p.m. but was pushed back to 9:54 p.m. due to the previous game between No. 6 Clemson and No. 2 Arizona.
UNC, one of four Atlantic Coast Conference teams to advance to the NCAA Tournament’s second weekend, defeated No. 16 Wagner and No. 9 Michigan in Charlotte last week to earn the chance to head to Hollywood. Alabama’s road to the Sweet 16 included wins over No. 13 College of Charleston and No. 12 Grand Canyon University in Spokane, WA.
This will be the 14th time the Tar Heels and the Crimson Tide play each other, with UNC holding a 8-5 advantage in the all-time record. The last time North Carolina and Alabama played each other was at the 2022 Phil Knight Invitational in Portland, OR. That game on Nov. 27 took four overtimes to settle, with the Crimson Tide winning 103-101.
