CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (WNCN) — The Bosh held some late-inning magic for the Tar Heels once more on Monday night.
North Carolina, the No. 4 baseball team in the country needed clutch hitting in the ninth inning and an extra frame to knock off defending champion LSU in an elimination game to become the winner of the Chapel Hill Regional.
Their reward is one more weekend at home at Boshamer Stadium, where the Tar Heels have lost just three games all season. UNC (45-14) will face the West Virginia Mountaineers (36-22), the winners of the Tucson Regional.
The best-of-three series begins Friday night, with an if-necessary Game 3 scheduled for Sunday afternoon. The winner gets a coveted ticket to Omaha and a spot in the College World Series, which begins June 14.
