NEW YORK (WNCN) – The first and only North Carolina player is off the board at the 2024 NBA Draft.
Former UNC forward Harrison Ingram was chosen by the San Antonio Spurs with the No. 48 overall pick on Thursday. Ingram, an All-ACC third-team selection this past season, started every game but one for the Tar Heels after transferring from Stanford.
He quickly emerged as a standout for a team that earned a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament, scoring a career-high 12.2 points per game. Meanwhile, he drastically improved as a three-point shooter during his time with the Tar Heels, hitting 38.5% of his attempts from behind the arc.
The 6-foot-7 forward also became a dominant force on the glass, leading the ACC with 10.9 rebounds per game during league play, while averaging 8.8 boards overall on the season. He racked up 11 double-double performances and grabbed at least 10 rebounds in 17 games last year.
Ingram is the first Tar Heel to be drafted since Day’Ron Sharpe in 2021.
He’s also the third player from the Triangle to be selected in this year’s draft following Duke standouts Jared McCain and Kyle Filipowski.
On Wednesday, McCain was picked No. 16 overall to the Philadelphia 76ers. One day later, Filipowski then went No. 32 to the Utah Jazz in the early stages of the second round.
