CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (WNCN) – In less than two months since coming to Chapel Hill, new North Carolina Tar Heels football coach Bill Belichick is already making himself a pillar in the Triangle area.
Ahead of his first iteration of the Battle for Tobacco Road, the legendary coach is giving back to the UNC community.
Belichick is buying free pizzas for several fraternities on campus before the Tar Heels men’s basketball team clashes with No. 2 Duke on Saturday evening, according to Ross Martin with 247Sports and CBS Sports.
“Coach Belichick wants to get your fraternity pizza for the UNC vs. Duke game tomorrow at 6:30 p.m. With that being said, our plan is to deliver the pizzas on behalf of Coach Belichick to your house,” UNC director of football operations Alec Kerr wrote in an email.

Belichick won over the hearts of many within the North Carolina faithful during his introductory press conference back in December, when he raised his father’s old UNC sweatshirt and recalled a story in which his first words were “Beat Duke.”
The Tar Heels (13-9, 6-4 ACC) travel to Durham on Saturday to square off against the second-ranked Blue Devils (18-2, 10-0 ACC) in the first matchup of the season between these two bitter rivals.
ESPN’s “College GameDay” returned to Cameron Indoor Stadium in anticipation of Saturday’s game. This marks the 14th trip to Duke for the traveling pregame college basketball show – the most of any school in the country.
