Timothy McKay, Sean Brown, Bishop Fitzgerald earn honorable mention recognition
NC State center Zeke Correll and Wolfpack defensive end Davin Vann both brought home 3rd Team All-ACC honors for their 2024 seasons. The pair of seniors were team captains for State this year.
Correll, a grad transfer from Notre Dame, started all 12 regular season games for the Pack and did not allow a sack across the campaign.
Vann, a graduate student from Cary, also started all 12 regular season games and led the country in forced fumbles with six. For the season he tallied 41 tackles, 14.0 TFL, and 6.5 sacks. For his career, Vann registered 144 tackles, 33.5 TFL, 20.5 sacks, and 8 forced fumbles. Heading into State’s bowl game, Vann is tied with Willie Young for 8th in school history for career sacks while ranking 16th in career TFL. He’s tied with Bradley Chubb, Earl Wolff, Brian Johnson, and Raymond Phillips for 3rd in career forced fumbles.
A trio of Pack players also received honorable mention status: SR OL Timothy McKay, JR LB Sean Brown, and SR S Bishop Fitzgerald.
McKay is a senior from Raleigh who has played in 60 career games with 38 starts, including 12 this year. Brown, who moved to LB this year from S, registered 87 tackles, 7.5 TLF, and 3 sacks this year, along with 2 forced fumbles and 3 fumble recoveries. Fitzgerald racked up 51 tackles, 6.0 TFL, and broke up 10 passes this season, including registering 3 interceptions.
There were certainly more Wolfpack players deserving of honors from the ACC this year, but when you finish .500 overall and under that percentage in conference play, your honors as a team are going to be lacking.
While QB C.J. Bailey failed to garner recognition on the team scale, he should still have a shot at ACC Freshman of the Year honors. He finished second in passing yards among ACC freshmen at 2,183 yards (Pitt’s Eli Holstein finished just ahead at 2,228 yards) while finishing the regular season with 14 TD passes to 9 INTs and a 140.79 QB Rating (Holstein’s was 140.64). Louisville RB Isaac Brown (1,074 rush yds, 11 TD; 152 rec yds, 1 TD) is most likely to take home the award, though. Clemson DL Sammy Brown (56 tackles, 10.5 TFL, 5.0 sacks) could also win it.
