It’s the 9th run-rule win for State this year
NC State scored six runs in the 1st inning on Tuesday night and never looked back in a 13-0 rout of Davidson at Atrium Health Ballpark in Kannapolis. The win, which was the 9th run-rule victory of the season for State, improves the Wolfpack to 15-6 on the year. The Wildcats fall to 6-13.
The Pack scored multiple runs in each of the first four innings and then cruised from there.
Chris McHugh hit a 3-run home run with no outs in the 1st, and the game probably could have ended there.

Of course, the game did not end there. The inning didn’t even end there. Brayden Fraasman doubled in another run, then scored on a Matt Heavner single, and finally Ty Head pushed across a run on a sacrifice fly to make it a 6-0 ball game.
The Pack added three more runs in the 2nd inning on back-to-back-to-back triples from Trenton Lyons, Fraasman, and Luke Nixon.
Josh Hogue crushed a 2-run homer in the 3rd for another pair of runs, and Nixon capped off the scoring with a 2-run homer of his own in the 4th inning.
It’s a Bakers Dozen for NC State!
Luke Nixon hits the third home run of the game for the Wolfpack.

the 13 runs in six innings was nice, but also completely unnecessary as Davidson’s hitters could do little against State’s pitchers all game. Anderson Nance made his first career start and cruised with 8 strikeouts over 3.2 scoreless innings. He allowed three hits and a walk, but shined bright in his lone spot of trouble. A single and a walk put the first two men on for Davidson in the 3rd inning, but Nance proceeded to strikeout the next three batters to escape unscathed. The freshman threw 67 pitches in the outing and improved his record to 2-1 on the year.
Jaxon Lucas (1.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 0 K) was next on the bump, followed by Derrick Smith (1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 HBP, 3 K) and Jacob Dudan (1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K), combining to preserve the shutout.
Fraasman (3-for-4, 2 2B, 3 R, 3 RBI), Nixon (2-for-3, 2B, HR, 2 R, 3 RBI, HBP), McHugh (2-for-3, HR, 2 R, 3 RBI), and Hogue (2-for-3, HR, 2 R, 2 RBI) led the Pack at the dish. Lyons (1-for-4, 2B, R) made his season debut for State, manning the DH spot.
NC State will head to Pittsburgh this weekend for an ACC affair, with the series opener slated for 3:00pm Friday on the ACCNX.
