Will Wade’s task in sifting through the portal is not one I envy, seeing as he’s got almost an entire roster to construct. It’s possible some McNeese players could jump in the portal and join him at NC State, which would help a bit, though that hasn’t happened yet.
Here are some of the names that NC State has shown interest in so far:
Jalil Bethea (6’5, 190) — Averaged 7.1 points and 2.1 boards as a freshman for Miami. NC State is a finalist for his services, along with Miami, Alabama, and Kansas State. He was a five-star prospect and McDonald’s All-American in the 2024 class.
Silas Demary Jr. (6’5, 195) — Averaged 13.5 points, 3.9 boards, 3.1 assists as a sophomore for Georgia. An obvious target considering State recruited him out of high school and he’s from Raleigh. He’d give the Pack a primary scoring option for next year.
Reggie Bass (6’3, 190) — Averaged 12.2 points, 3.0 boards, 2.5 assists as a junior for Lindenwood. He’s headed to his fourth school in as many seasons. A career 32.7% three-point shooter.
Devin Haid (6’5, 190) — Averaged 14.2 points, 5.6 boards, 2.1 assists as a junior for Central Connecticut State. Haid shot nearly 60% inside the arc. He went to CCSU from the JUCO ranks, and with the rule change for those players, I think he’d have two years left.
Juslin Bodo Bodo (7’0, 240) — Averaged 5.3 points, 8.4 boards, 1.5 blocks as a sophomore for High Point. He was the Big South’s Defensive Player of the Year in 2024 and 2025. Dude is a rebounding behemoth and a good shot-blocker.
Rodney Johnson Jr. (6’5, 220) — Averaged 13.0 points and 5.8 boards as a senior for Tennessee Tech and would bring some solid versatility to the wing. Johnson also originally came from the JUCO ranks.
