Week 8 was a 5-1 performance for the dungeon, and as a show of appreciation, I’ve reduced our lashings quota 25% this week. Seems only fair.
NC State is off, which means we can focus all of our mojo elsewhere.
Obligatory Bet Against UNC Of The Week
UNC football is back this week, baby, and aiming to throw a bit more disappointment on the pile! The Tar Heels are 3.5-point underdogs at UVA, and I am mashing that Cavs Cover button. If UNC manages another successful failure to cover here, then we’re on to a true headliner next week, when UNC goes to FSU. That’s going to be a party.
Around The Country
Missouri vs. Alabama -13.5: Missouri is 6-1 thanks to a rather light schedule, and every time I watch the Tigers, they look underwhelming. They were badly exposed by Texas A&M a few weeks back, and I think there’s more of that on the way. So do a lot of people, apparently: this line is currently Bama -18. The dungeon shrewdly hopped on this at 13.5 on Monday.
Charlotte vs. Memphis -17.5: Charlotte has been held to 21 points or fewer in five of six games against FBS foes, while Memphis should be well motivated as long as it’s theoretically in contention for a playoff bid out of the G5.
Oregon State vs. California, over 49: An excellent opportunity for the Bears to bounce back at home against an OSU defense that has been big stinky poo poo since Week 3.
Louisville -7 vs. Boston College: BC has lost two straight, and gave up nearly 370 yards rushing to Virginia Tech last week, and that ain’t real good, in my opinion. The Cards have let me down a couple times this year but I still really like that offense, and think they’ve got a good day ahead of them.
Utah vs. Houston, over 37.5: Now, sure, Utah has been held under 20 points in each of its last three games, all losses. And yes, Houston’s offense is so bad that it’s been shut out twice this season. Putting these teams on the same field may well give us something really gross, like a 12-7 final, but my crystal ball foresees hijinks. Perhaps multiple defensive scores? Who can say. I just can’t resist these garbage games sometimes.
Auburn moneyline vs. Kentucky: While I very much appreciate the rough season that Hugh Freeze has been going through, his team is better than its record and is due to finish on the right side of a close score at some point. The line in this game is Auburn +1.5 so just give me the Tigers straight up.
