The end of the regular season is here, sadly.
It feels like just yesterday we were getting this football season started, and here we are at the end of it. Let’s see if we can finish on a high note.
Obligatory Bet Against UNC Of The Week
We hadn’t really thought about how this bit would force a bet on NC State against UNC at the end of the season, but we fear not! After two straight weeks of betting against the Heels in the first quarter and miraculously winning both, we will continue to lean on this with some of that house money. NC State is +0.5 in the first quarter. Also, we’ll have the NC State moneyline for a straight-up win tomorrow. Why not.
Around The Country
(Memphis +12.5 vs. Tulane, last night: Easy money!)
Navy vs. ECU -3: Hey, how about those Pirates, eh? Fired their coach mid-season and completely took off, so much so that the interim guy is now the permanent guy. They’ve scored at least 38 points in each of their last four, all of them wins, so we’ll take some Pirates over the Navy like it’s 1564.
Nebraska vs. Iowa -3: Iowa has been outstanding at home in league play and we expect that’ll continue tonight. It is going to be frigidly cold—a real torturous atmosphere—so the under 39.5 is tempting also.
Duke -4 vs. Wake Forest: We must admit that we were impressed with the way Duke came into Raleigh and handled things; that’s an underrated team. The Blue Devils have a 10-win season on the table still, also, while the Deacs were eliminated from bowl consideration last week.
Notre Dame -7.5 vs. USC: Notre Dame continues to prove that it is a wagon, and USC has underwhelmed all month; the Trojans have a loss at Washington and one-score wins against UCLA and Nebraska on the ledger in November. If there’s a reason for skepticism on the Irish side, we guess it’d be that they’ve played only two true road games this season and none since September (three games have been at neutral sites), but the atmosphere isn’t likely to make much difference.
Virginia vs. Virginia Tech -7: Two 5-6 rivals fighting for a bowl trip. One of them will get there, and the other is Virginia. The Cavs have played like bums for the most part since mid-October and we feel confident that this will continue under the pressure of a Lane Stadium night crowd.
