First and foremost we here at the dungeon would like to offer a tip of the spiky skull cap to Air Force, frequent punching bag that it has been, for not only winning last week but scoring 36 points in the process. Look at you, Air Force, doing some good football.
Obligatory Bet Against UNC Of The Week
UNC is an 11-point favorite at home against Wake Forest, and this is the sort of spot the Heels have struggled with covering, though they’ve had the Deacs’ number lately (must be nice). Wake Forest still needs two wins to get bowl eligible with three left, and this probably has to be one of them, what with a trip to Miami next, so we’re gonna go a bit sicko mode on this one: we will take the Wake first quarter moneyline (+210), betting that the Deacs come out with urgency.
Around The Country
Houston vs. Arizona -2: Arizona is 3-6 after winning 10 games last season—see, kids, big disappointment happens to others, too—and has lost five straight. Still the Wildcats feel a tad undervalued in this matchup, and I’ll take ‘em by at least a field goal against the offensively-challenged Cougars.
Liberty -14.5 vs. UMass: Liberty easily covered last week a surprisingly modest line on the road against a very bad team last week, and here’s a repeat opportunity. SP+ has the Flames 23 points better than UMass, which feels much closer to reality.
Oregon -13.5 vs. Wisconsin: Wisconsin’s passing game has been dreadful the last few weeks and in general the Badgers’ offense hasn’t proven capable of much against competent defenses. Oregon has been rolling since beating Ohio State, the slow start to the season long forgotten.
James Madison -2.5 vs. Old Dominion: Hey, do you guys remember when James Madison scored 70 points against UNC? Wasn’t that fun when they did that? Anyway, we really don’t understand the line on this game at all, so it’s probably a trap, but no matter!
Oregon State -3 vs. Air Force: Come on now, we’re gonna hold off on Air Force games after a couple setbacks? Our determination only grows! The Beavs have lost four straight, and assuming they’ve not given up on the season entirely, they should see this game as the opportunity that it is.
