If you need an excuse to be in Jacksonville, Florida, next February, and I’m assuming just about all of you would, then look no further! NC State will be participating in the second annual Jax College Baseball Classic, which will also feature Alabama, Coastal Carolina, and Ohio State.
It’s a round-robin event, not a tournament. Which is fine since who could possibly care about an early-season non-conference baseball tournament. Alabama and Coastal reached the NCAAs last season and I’m assuming both will be at least decent once again, so that’ll be a solid strength of schedule bump.
Ohio State not so much, but it’s a Big Ten team, what do you expect.
While Jacksonville is not quite on the same destination level as Honolulu, where the Pack went early last year, it’ll be a useful trip. (And a timely one, if the weather in Raleigh happens to be frigid that weekend.)
