Four of next eight games for the Pack are against Top 10 teams
NC State has been bouncing in and out of the Top 25 all year, and with their latest series win against a Top 25 team – this time against UNC – the Wolfpack reenters the rankings at #21 in the latest D1 Baseball poll. The USA Today Coaches Poll will be released later today.
The series win over the Tar Heels also put State back in the Top 30 of the RPI rankings, which, given the remaining schedule, gives the Pack a decent shot at an NCAA Regional hosting opportunity. Of course, for that to happen State will need to handle some business in those coming games.
Speaking of the upcoming schedule, four of the next eight games for the Pack are against current Top 10 teams, starting with a trip to #7 East Carolina on Tuesday night. Following a home series against Ball State and a home midweek tilt against UNCW, the Pack will head to Tallahassee to take on #10 Florida State in a three-game ACC series.
State will finish up the season with ACC series on the road against #14 Virginia and at home against #8 Wake Forest.
With ten games remaining against ranked opponents – all currently in the Top 15 – there’s ample opportunity for the Wolfpack to position themselves as an NCAA Regional host. That would be an incredible turnaround from where this team was sitting only less than two weeks ago.
