Well that was easy.
There is surprisingly little to say about NC State’s game at Louisville, as the Wolfpack scored the first 10 points of the contest and left the Cardinals in the rearview. By the time Zamareya Jones converted a four-point play 75 seconds into the second quarter, State’s win probability had surpassed 90%, and its lead was 18.
Louisville had one of those no good, very bad days from the floor—the Cards started bad (3-20 shooting in the first quarter) and just couldn’t get it going. Their best shooting quarter was the second, when they were 5-15. NC State outscored Louisville in each quarter, led by 20 at halftime, and 27 after three.
Torvik had this game as a coin flip, but it was pretty much never in doubt.
Zam Jones was outstanding, particularly in the first half, and finished with 18 points on 7-8 shooting. Saniya Rivers scored 14 points and grabbed 13 boards, while Zoe Brooks and Aziaha James each scored 11. Louisville didn’t have a player score in double figures.
Hell of a way to start league play.
