Crootin’ never stops.
As its 2024 season continues, NC State is already building for 2025. The Wolfpack landed Campbell outfielder Dalen Thompson out of the portal on Wednesday, and he should be an immediate starter after breaking out this season.
Thompson slashed .313/.396/.554 for the Camels this spring, hitting 10 home runs and driving in 47. His power development is what stands out, as he hadn’t hit a home run in college prior to 2024. He also walked 30 times and stole 20 bags, while being caught just twice. He’ll be a weapon in a variety of ways, and can slot anywhere in the outfield—he spent time in both left and center at Campbell.
The Wolfpack will have to replace multiple outfielders, most likely including centerfielder Eli Serrano, who is a draft-eligible sophomore.
Thompson flashed in Campbell’s 11-7 win over State earlier this season, going 2-5 at the dish with two walks and three stolen bases.
