Yeah, that’s fair.
NC State was picked fourth in the preseason ACC football media poll released on Wednesday afternoon, behind first-place Florida State, Clemson, and Miami. The Wolfpack received eight first-place votes.
FSU received 81 first-place votes (out of 170), and Clemson nabbed 55, making those two by far the most popular picks to win the league. Not that this is surprising.
Georgia Tech and Boston College each received a first-place vote, while Cal somehow got two of them. Tech I could probably maybe talk myself into, but those other two, uh, feel like extreme longshots. But hey, its get-hyped season for everybody, and some partisans in the media are bound to succumb.
It’s surprising that Louisville didn’t merit at least one vote given the dabbling elsewhere. And we’ll see if SMU is good enough in the trenches to finish in the top seven. Not sure about that. I’ll take Duke and Syracuse as underrated in this poll. Also, UNC is going 2-6 in league play, good for 14th, and Mack Brown’s going to retire. No need to save this for posterity as in fact I have a time machine and went ahead and confirmed those results.
