NC State did Thursday night what we’ve come to expect it to—respond well after a loss. The Wolfpack erased its painful result in Chapel Hill with a decisive win over a good Georgia Tech team in Atlanta.
State found its shooting touch early, weathered the inevitable Tech runs, and finished off the Jackets with little drama down the stretch.
The decisive stretch began in the late stages of the third quarter, when NC State began a 17-0 run to go from down 53-52 to ahead 69-53 with nine minutes to play. Madison Hayes, who had an excellent game playing in front of a bunch of family and friends, knocked down a trio of three-pointers during the big run.

Hayes finished with 14 points and was 4-7 from three-point range. Aziaha James and Zoe Brooks led the way with 17 apiece, and Saniya Rivers went for 16 points, along with eight assists and seven boards. It was another strong collective effort.
It was also another good win on the road against an NCAA tournament team. NC State now has two of those just in its last four games. Getting through Duke, FSU, UNC, and GT at 3-1 is an outstanding result, and the Pack can turn its attention fully to Notre Dame on Sunday. The Irish won again tonight and remain undefeated in league play.
