Hey, I know those guys.
I love living in the future, where the conferences are so big that league schools find it prudent to schedule non-conference matchups with each other. After playing in Charlottesville last season, NC State and UVA were not scheduled to meet again until 2027, so they’ve gone ahead and set up non-conference games for 2025 and 2026.
Virginia will make the trip to Raleigh in 2025, so the Wolfpack is now scheduled for road trips to UVA in both 2026 and 2027.
This sort of thing is not unprecedented—Wake Forest and UNC recently played their own non-conference series—and is kind of like hitting the scheduling Easy button. It doesn’t make for tons of excitement, but it’s a simple solution for both parties.
NC State will need to do some shuffling, though, as both its 2025 and 2026 non-conference schedules were already full. Makes me wonder if State will try to push back its series with App State. The tomato can games (Campbell, Richmond) aren’t going anywhere, I’m sure.
