It’s portal season for football, too.
NC State has been busy on the recruiting trail over the last couple of days, picking up a trio of defensive commitments through the transfer portal. The Wolfpack went west to add former Utah State linebacker/edge rusher Cian Slone and former Wyoming defensive end Sabastian Harsh, and landed ex-Northwestern linebacker Kenny Soares as well.
NC State has a dozen transfer commits in this class, and eight of them are on the defensive side.
Slone started 14 games for Utah State in two seasons there, and led the team with 9.5 tackles for loss in 2024. He had 49 total tackles, with 7.5 sacks.
Harsh finished second on Wyoming with 8.5 TFLs and recorded 40 tackles. He had 50 tackles and nine TFLs in 2023. He’s been in college for five years but missed two, and so should have two years left.
Soares is coming off a redshirt sophomore campaign in which he recorded 20 tackles, with 1.5 for loss. He had 37 tackles and four TFLs in 2023.
These guys make six total additions to bolster the defensive front-six, bringing more competitive depth to some key spots.
