NC State gets back to it this week against a Stanford team that is 2-6 on the season and riding a five-game losing streak. The Wolfpack is favored to win this one by two scores, which feels like a stretch, but then again Stanford has been pretty damn bad.
The Cardinal also played this past weekend while State was resting, losing a 27-24 contest at home to Wake Forest. In the four games prior to that, Stanford scored a total of 38 points. That was a difficult stretch of schedule (Clemson, ND, SMU, VT) but this is not exactly a well-oiled machine.
Stanford’s only FBS win, oddly enough, came at Syracuse in walk-off field goal fashion back in September. You just never know in this zany conference!
NC State can get itself back above .500 with a win—a win it’s gotta have—and put itself in excellent shape to at least get to six wins and a bowl.
