Boo Corrigan hasn’t wasted any time getting on with the coaching search, and according to various reports, McNeese State’s Will Wade may be at the top of the list.
Wade is currently working under a show-cause penalty from the NCAA that expires this offseason. That stems from the NCAA violations he committed while at LSU, though in the NIL era, there’s nothing particularly scandalous about those actions.
On the court, there’s no doubting the results: he led VCU to the NCAAs in each of his two years there, did the same in four of five at LSU (I’m counting 2020 here), and has McNeese poised to make the tournament for the second straight season.
Prior to his arrival at McNeese, the team finished 335th in the Pomeroy Ratings. The Cowboys at 67 last season, Wade’s first, and are No. 61 in 2025. Last season stands as the only time in this century that McNeese has finished a season in the KenPom top 100.
His LSU teams finished in the KenPom top 25 three times.
