WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (WNCN) — The scene is set for an in-state clash between NC State and Wake Forest women’s basketball.
The No. 17 Wolfpack (16-4 overall, 8-1 Atlantic Coast Conference) visit the Demon Deacons (8-12, 1-8) Thursday night in Winston-Salem. Tipoff at Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum is set for 6 p.m.
NC State is currently on a five-game winning streak, with their last victory a rout over Virginia Tech at home on Sunday. In that 85-57 win, star guard Aziaha James led the Wolfpack with 25 points, five rebounds, four assists and two steals. Her backcourt mate Saniya Rivers chipped in 17 points, six rebounds and three steals.
The Demon Deacons recently snapped their seven-game losing streak with a 69-59 win Sunday over Boston College. Dontavia Waggoner led Wake Forest with 16 points, five rebounds and two steals in that victory.
Next up for NC State is a huge rivalry battle against No. 10 Duke at home. The Wolfpack and Blue Devils are set for a showdown Monday night in Raleigh.
