RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — A game that is already a special one each year is even more significant this season as it features two teams ranked among the top 15 in the country and located just a few miles from each other.
No. 14 NC State (17-4 overall, 9-1 Atlantic Coast Conference) hosts Triangle foe No. 10 Duke (17-4, 8-1) Monday night in the Play4Kay Game, which celebrates the late Kate Yow, legendary Wolfpack head coach. Tipoff in the annual fundraiser for cancer is at 7 p.m. at Reynolds Coliseum.
NC State is on a six-game win streak, winning most recently at Wake Forest on Thursday night in Winston-Salem. In that 90-83 win, Zoe Brooks led the Pack with 18 points, five assists and four rebounds. Zamareya Jones chipped in 17 points and four assists off the bench.
The Blue Devils haven’t played in over a week but are in the midst of their own five-game winning streak. In their last win — a 55-50 victory at Georgia Tech on Jan. 26 — Delaney Thomas, Taina Mair and Oluchi Okananwa all had 12 points for Duke.
The Wolfpack has a nearly week-long break until their next game, a meeting with Florida State in Tallahassee on Feb. 9. Duke heads home to host Clemson on Thursday night.
