RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — For the third game in a row, the NC State women will be playing a fellow Top 25 ranked team. This time, however, the Wolfpack will face its biggest challenge — the No. 1 team in the country.
No. 13 NC State (21-5 overall, 13-2 Atlantic Coast Conference) and No. 1 Notre Dame (24-2, 15-0) square off Sunday afternoon. Tipoff at Reynolds Coliseum in Raleigh is set for noon.
After losing at rival North Carolina — then ranked No. 12 — last Sunday, the Wolfpack bounced back to win at No. 20 Georgia Tech on Thursday night. In the 83-68 win over the Yellow Jackets, Aziaha James and Zoe Brooks scored 17 points apiece to lead NC State, while Saniya Rivers and Madison Hayes put 16 points and 14 points, respectively.
The Fighting Irish are currently on a 19-game winning streak and have yet to be defeated in ACC play. Notre Dame’s last win was an 82-42 romp at Miami on Thursday night. Sonia Citron scored a game-high 19 points and pulled down eight rebounds to lead the Irish, while second-leading scorer in the nation Hannah Hidalgo contributed 18 points.
NC State’s last game in February is a date with Wake Forest. The Wolfpack will host the Demon Deacons on Thursday night.
