CLEMSON, S.C. (WNCN) — For the second time already this season, the North Carolina State football team will be facing a ranked opponent away from home.
The Wolfpack (2-1) will be facing the No. 21 Clemson Tigers (1-1) in their first Atlantic Coast Conference matchup this year. Kickoff at Memorial Stadium in Clemson, S.C. is set for noon.
The last time NC State faced a top 25 team — two weeks ago in Charlotte against then-No. 14 Tennessee — they were routed by the Volunteers in the Duke’s Mayo Classic. But the Wolfpack came from behind last week to top Louisiana State at home, despite losing starting quarterback Grayson McCall to injury. True freshman CJ Bailey, who entered the game for McCall last week, will get the start today.
Clemson, meanwhile, is coming off a bye week. Though they got routed by Georgia in their season opener, they then turned around and won big over App State in their last game.
Next week, the Wolfpack returns home to face Northern Illinois, who pulled off possibly the biggest upset of the season so far when they upset then-No. 5 Notre Dame in South Bend on Sept. 7.
