CORAL GABLES, Fla. (WNCN) — A disappointing season for NC State men’s basketball will come to an end Saturday afternoon in South Florida.
The Wolfpack (12-18 overall, 5-14 Atlantic Coast Conference) will face the Miami Hurricanes (6-24, 2-17) in Coral Gables. Tipoff at the Watsco Center is set for 12 p.m.
There will be no magical run through the ACC Tournament and into the NCAA Tournament this season, as NC State finished third-to-last in the league and did not qualify for conference playoffs. But the Wolfpack did win its last game at home on Wednesday night. In that 71-63 win over Pitt, Michael O’Connell led NC State with 15 points, eight rebounds and five assists, while Dontrez Styles had a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds.
Miami has also had a disappointing season, finishing last in the ACC and also missing the conference tournament. The Hurricanes have lost six in a row going into their final game of the season. Their last loss was at Georgia Tech on Tuesday night. In that 889-74 loss, Matthew Cleveland scored 29 points and had seven rebounds and three assists for Miami.
