RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — One team has won four of its last five games while the other has lost four of its last five contests, but on Saturday afternoon, they’ll battle in an in-state matchup in Raleigh.
The North Carolina Wolfpack (10-16 overall, 3-12 Atlantic Coast Conference) and Wake Forest Demon Deacons (19-7, 11-4) will face off at the Lenovo Center. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
A week ago, NC State snapped a nine-game losing streak by outlasting Boston College. But they followed that up by losing by double digits to rival North Carolina in Chapel Hill on a snowy Wednesday night. In the 97-73 loss to the Tar Heels, Jayden Taylor led the Pack with 19 points, while former UNC player Dontrez Styles scored 18 points and pulled down five rebounds against his old team.
The Demon Deacons haven’t played in a week, but their most recent game was a 77-66 win over SMU in Dallas. Wake Forest star guard Hunter Sallis filled the stat sheet with a game-high 20 points to go along with nine rebounds and six assists.
The Wolfpack’s last game in February is a visit to Syracuse. NC State is set to play the Orange on Wednesday night.
