RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — NC State men’s basketball is looking to get back on the winning track as they host one of the Atlantic Coast Conference’s newest members Saturday.
The Wolfpack (9-8 overall, 2-4 ACC) faces off against the Cal Golden Bears (8-9, 1-5) at the Lenovo Center. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
NC State is coming of two close losses: a 79-76 defeat at Virginia Tech Wednesday, and a heartbreaking 63-61 loss to archrival UNC at home last Saturday. In the game against the Hokies, three members of the Pack scored in double figures, led by Jayden Taylor’s 17 points. Ben Middlebrooks and Marcus Hill chipped in 13 and 12 each, respectively.
Cal has been in the Triangle since earlier this week. On Wednesday, they played in Chapel Hill, losing to the Tar Heels 79-53. In that game, the Bears’ leading scorer Andrej Stojakovic — the son of former NBA All-Star Peja Stojakovic who is averaging over 19 points per game so far this season — was held to just six points.
The Wolfpack don’t play again until next Saturday, when they host another ACC newcomer, SMU.
