CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WNCN) — After a win at home over Western Carolina last week, NC State will now have a tough test against a fellow Top 25 team.
The No. 24 Wolfpack (1-0) and No. 14 Tennessee Volunteers (1-0) face off in the Duke’s Mayo Classic Saturday night in Charlotte. Kick off at Bank of America is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
Last week at Carter-Finley Stadium, NC State found themselves down in the fourth quarter against the Catamounts, but scored three touchdowns in that final period to earn the comeback win. Meanwhile, the Vols put up 69 points against Chattanooga in their season opener in Knoxville last week.
This will be the fifth meeting on the gridiron between the two schools. Their last matchup was in the 2012 Chick-fil-A Kickoff game in Atlanta, which Tennessee won 35-21.
The Wolfpack’s next home game is next Saturday against Louisiana Tech.
