RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — Following a big loss at then-No. 21 Clemson last week, the Wolfpack is looking to bounce back against upset-minded Northern Illinois.
NC State (2-2 overall, 0-1 Atlantic Coast Conference) hosts NIU (2-1, 0-1 Mid-American Conference) at Carter-Finley Stadium on Saturday. The game is set to kick off at noon in Raleigh.
The Huskies have perhaps the biggest upset of the season so far — a stunning win in the last minute over then-No. 5 Notre Dame in South Bend in the second week of the season. But Northern Illinois is coming into Raleigh fresh off an overtime loss to conference foe Buffalo at home last weekend.
NC State is also coming off a loss in their first conference game of the season, and their first in which true freshman CJ Bailey started the game at quarterback. But like they did after their double-digit loss to then-No. 14 Tennessee earlier this year, the Pack is looking to get back in the win column against a non-power conference team.
Today’s game is the first of a three-game homestand for the Wolfpack. Next week, Wake Forest comes to town as NC State returns to ACC play.
