WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (WNCN) — It’s an all-North Carolina matchup in the Triad on Saturday afternoon as NC State and Wake Forest face off in men’s basketball for the first time this season.
The Wolfpack (8-5 overall, 1-1 Atlantic Coast Conference) and Demon Deacons (10-4, 2-1) are set to tip off at the Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Winston-Salem at noon.
NC State is looking to bounce back from their narrow 70-67 loss at Virginia on New Year’s Eve. Jayden Taylor led the Wolfpack with 14 points, five rebounds and three assists, while Marcus Hill and Brandon Huntley-Hatfield each chipped in 12 points.
The Demon Deacons, meanwhile, topped Syracuse 81-71 in their last game, also on Dec. 31. Star guard Hunter Sallis played all 40 minutes and led Wake with 23 points, while four other players also scored in double digits.
The Wolfpack head back to Raleigh for their next contest, a matchup against Notre Dame on Wednesday night.
