You can probably go ahead and do that, though.
The Mike James injury saga continues, as Kevin Keatts said Monday that he’s not ready to rule James out for the season, although he figures a determination will come in the next week or so. Keatts said in November that he expected James back in December, though that obviously didn’t happen, and the matter has been in limbo since then.
For weeks now I’ve been assuming that James won’t play and I can’t see any benefit to playing him at all at this point. The season is clearly toast, and the only suspense remaining is whether or not NC State will make the ACC tournament. Even if Keatts thinks James can make the difference there, I still don’t see the point of it.
Making the ACC tourney is such a sorry little goal that it isn’t worth the extra effort. Might as well preserve the year of eligibility. Whether he’s here next year or hops back into the portal this offseason, it doesn’t seem right to put him on the court in the waning moments of a lost season.
