If there’s a silver lining to struggling with an opponent you’re supposed to handle by five touchdowns, it’s that we got more KC Concpecion out of the deal. So in a sense it was a … thoughtful performance? We’ll go with that. That sounds good.
KC showcased all of his talents—the elusiveness, speed, hands, vision, and on and on. He was the best player on the field all night. He was a problem for which Western Carolina had no answers, and it was appropriate that his great individual effort was what put NC State up for good.
Like the offense as a whole, Jordan Waters needed some time to find his sea legs, but he turned around a tough night in the fourth quarter with an outstanding effort. That included about the most impressive six-yard touchdown run you will see, in which he bounced off or ran through half of the Catamounts’ defense.
I’m still chuckling at his celebration after the second score, involving the cheerleaders in a high-five line like he just struck out the side to secure a 3-2 victory on the mound.
