RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — Despite losing one of the best defensive players in the country to the NFL, the North Carolina State Wolfpack are expecting big things this season.
With a new quarterback in transfer Grayson McCall throwing to Kevin Concepcion — who last year scored 10 touchdowns as a standout freshman — and a reloaded defense, N.C. State is ranked No. 24 in the Associated Press’ preseason Top 25 poll.
The Wolfpack represent the fourth Atlantic Coast Conference team in the first national poll of the season behind the teams that were picked to finish ahead of them in the conference: Florida State, Clemson and Miami.
While the Seminoles and Hurricanes are not on N.C. State’s schedule this season, trips to Clemson and Chapel Hill are, as are matchups at home against Wake Forest and Duke. The Wolfpack also have an early season neutral site test against No. 15 Tennessee at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte on Sept. 7.
NC State begins their season Thursday night at Carter-Finley Stadium against Western Carolina. Here’s the Wolfpack’s full season schedule, with times if announced.
