Significant roster turnover is coming along with Will Wade to Raleigh, and NC State had its first portal entrants on Tuesday: Dennis Parker Jr. and Mike James. I don’t want to rule Mike James out for this season just yet, though. Think we could still see him out on the court next week.
James retains two years of eligibility after missing this entire season with an injury. He joins Kevin Keatts’ signed-but-never-played-at-NC-State hall of fame, an honor shared by a shocking number of people.
Dennis Parker will have a couple of years left as well, and I’ll be interested to see if a better coach/system fit can unlock some of that potential he has. He flashed it early in his freshman season—I was convinced after that Vandy game that he was going to be really good—but the progression has been slow. Some of that is injury-related, also.
Best of luck to those two guys as they continue their careers elsewhere.
