NC State’s Dave Doeren didn’t exactly care for Steve Smith’s comments on “College GameDay” over the weekend; as made clear by his postgame comments.
After a nice win over Clemson on Saturday, the Wolfpack coach took the podium and had a few words for the former Panthers star and NC native.
For a guy who lives in Charlotte, he’s clearly got his head faced West to Utah all the time. Which I understand. No disrespect to him. But he disrespected our program, and I’m not gonna let people do that. These kids have worked their butt off. We’ve won a lot of football games here in my tenure. I think we’re second or third in the ACC in wins in football. So, he can take that and put it where it belongs, but this is not a basketball school. This is a great, great school. It has great sports, and football is one of them. So, yeah, if he wants to come see me, we can talk. about that, but do your homework before you start talking s–t.
When Smith was the guest picker on ESPN that morning, Smith took the Tigers who he admitted had their issues, before taking a small dig at the Pack.
“Clemson has been struggling. They’re not the Clemson that we’ve loved over the years,” Smitty explained. “But NC State, unfortunately, they’re waiting for basketball to start.”
Safe to say Doeren used that as some bulletin board material.
