This is unhelpful.
Can things get worse? Of course they can get worse! They can always get worse. NC State’s outlook has not been so hot lately, and if it’s going to turn this season around, it’ll have to do so without its best linebacker.
Caden Fordham did not play against Syracuse and will miss the remainder of the 2024 season with an undisclosed injury suffered during practice last week. Fordham went into the weekend as the Pack’s leading tackler with 48—an average of eight per game.
Linebacker is not exactly a position of strength for this team, and Fordham’s absence will force some younger players into larger roles. The good news I guess is the defense wasn’t too bad without him on Saturday night, but this development is obviously far from ideal. Any more attrition at linebacker and State is going to be in serious trouble.
I expect we’ll hear more about Fordham’s situation during Dave Doeren’s press conference on Monday afternoon.
