Duke is going to get back one of its best players for the 2024-25 men’s basketball season.
According to Adam Zagoria, Tyrese Proctor is set to return to Duke for his junior season.
That’s big news since Duke could lose Kyle Filipowski, Jared McCain, and Jeremy Roach to the 2024 NBA Draft. Duke advanced to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament before losing to North Carolina State.
Proctor averaged 10.5 points, 3.7 assists, and 3.0 rebounds per game this past season, the former two of which are career highs.
He averaged 9.4 points, 3.3 assists, and 3.1 rebounds per game as a freshman in 2022-23.
Originally from Australia, Proctor was part of the 2022 recruiting class and was the fourth-best point guard in the class, per 247Sports composite rankings. He was also the No. 27 overall recruit, regardless of position.
In addition to running it back with Duke, he’ll get to serve as a mentor to the incoming class of freshmen.
Duke finished the season with a 27-9 record and finished second in the ACC. This was Jon Scheyer’s second season as head coach after taking over for Mike Krzyzewski.
