DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) — Fresh off a trip to the Elite Eight, the Duke women’s basketball team — ranked nationally to start the year — has high expectations this season.
The No. 11 Blue Devils (0-0) are set to open the 2024-2025 season Monday morning against Radford (0-0). Tip off at Cameron Indoor Stadium is scheduled for 11 a.m.
Kara Lawson’s team returns four starters from last year’s squad, including All-Atlantic Coast Conference Second Team pick Reigan Richardson and standout guard Taina Mair. The 2024 ACC Sixth Player of the Year, Oluchi Okananwa, also returns for the Blue Devils.
The Highlanders play in the Big South Conference and have faced Duke four times previously, with the Blue Devils holding a 4-0 lead in the all-time series. But the last meeting between the two teams was over 30 years ago during the 1992-1993 season.
Following Monday’s game, Duke hits the road for their next two contests. The Blue Devils are set to play at Liberty Thursday night and at Maryland on Sunday.
