DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) — Fresh off a bye week, the Duke football team is hoping to get back in the win column against the underperforming preseason Atlantic Coast Conference favorite.
The Blue Devils (5-1 overall, 1-1 ACC) are hosting Florida State (1-5, 1-4) Friday night. Kickoff at Wallace Wade Stadium is set for 7 p.m.
After starting the season 5-0, Duke lost their last matchup going into their bye. The 24-14 loss at Georgia Tech marked the first time all year the Blue Devils scored less than 20 points in a contest.
Florida State has been one of the most disappointing teams in the top tier of college football season. After having an undefeated season last year and being picked to make not just the conference championship game, but also the newly-expanded college football playoff this year, the Seminoles have managed just one win — a narrow 14-9 victory over ACC newcomer Cal on Sept. 21. Their most recent loss was last week at home against then-No. 15 Clemson.
Next week, the Blue Devils host another new ACC team, SMU. They then play at Miami to start the month of November before a Triangle clash against NC State in Raleigh in Week 11.
