CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WNCN) — After a highly-competitive 2024 Atlantic Coast Conference baseball season, the conference tournament has begun in Charlotte.
The sixth-seeded Duke Blue Devils (35-18 overall, 16-14 ACC) are set to take on the No. 10 Virginia Tech Hokies (32-20, 14-16) in the first game of Pool C play. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Truist Field
The Blue Devils offense has been led this year by Logan Bravo, who led the team in home runs (17) and runs batted in (57) this season while batting .325 and drawing 39 walks. All-ACC players Zac Morris (15 HR, 49 RBI, .335 avg.) and Ben Miller (13 HR, 42 RBI, .383 avg.) have also been leaders at the plate for Duke.
For the Hokies, Carson DeMartini has slugged 20 HR and batted in 54 runs while drawing 41 walks this season. Outfielder Ben Watson has 89 hits this season and has a batting average of .418 over 213 at-bats, and Chris Cannizzaro is batting .346 with 12 HR and 62 RBI.
Virginia Tech next plays No. 3 NC State in pool play on Wednesday night, while Duke plays the Wolfpack on Thursday night.
