WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (WNCN) — Despite winning their two contests last week, Duke women’s basketball fell out of the AP top ten. But the team is still highly ranked as it heads west for an in-state showdown against Wake Forest.
The No. 13 Blue Devils (19-5 overall, 10-2 Atlantic Coast Conference) visit the Demon Deacons (8-15, 1-11) Thursday. Tipoff at Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum is set for 6 p.m.
Duke is coming off a big 90-49 win over Miami at home on Sunday. Toby Fournier and Ashlon Jackson led the Blue Devils with 24 points and 23 points, respectively. Like Fournier, Oluchi Okananwa provided production off the bench, contributing 16 points.
Wake Forest currently occupies the last spot in the ACC standings and has lost three games in a row. The Demon Deacons’ last loss was a 62-50 defeat at Syracuse Sunday afternoon. Forward Demeara Hinds led Wake with 14 points and six rebounds in the loss.
Next up for the Blue Devils is what will their toughest ACC matchup so far — a top 25 showdown against No. 2 Notre Dame in South Bend on Monday.
