Duke senior guard Jeremy Roach announced Tuesday that he’s declaring for the 2024 NBA Draft. He also revealed that he’s entering his name in the transfer portal.
“To the Cameron Crazies: thank you for making Duke a special place to play. Some of the best memories of my life are because of you all, so thank you,” Roach said in a statement. “With all of that being said, I’ll be declaring for the 2024 NBA Draft while maintaining my college eligibility and entering the transfer portal.”
Shortly after Roach made that announcement, a rumor about him wanting $1.5 million from NIL deals surfaced online.
Roach responded to that rumor on Friday. The All-ACC performer said, “Man I wish smh.”
Suffice to say, Roach is not hunting for a major deal via the transfer portal.
Roach started in 106 games during his run with the Blue Devils. This past season, he averaged 14.0 points and 3.3 assists per game. He also made 42.9 percent of his attempts from the 3-point line.
If Roach passes on the NBA for another season of college basketball, he’ll draw plenty of interest in the transfer portal.
For now, we’ll have to wait and see if Roach wants to go pro.
