DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) – The finalized roster for the Duke men’s basketball team is starting to take shape for next season.
The Duke Blue Devils landed a commitment from former Rice University guard Cameron Sheffield, he announced on his social media accounts on Thursday.
“The Brotherhood,” Sheffield wrote in a post to X, which included a picture of him sporting a Blue Devils jersey.
As a sophomore during the 2022-23 season, the 6-foot-6 guard averaged 7.6 points and 6.1 rebounds while starting 34 out of 35 games for the Owls. Sheffield will have two years of eligibility left after using a medical redshirt this past year.
The Alpharetta, Georgia native is the fourth player this offseason to pick the Blue Devils out of the transfer portal, along with former Tulane guard Sion James, Syracuse forward Maliq Brown and Purdue forward Mason Gillis.
This group will join veteran returners Tyrese Proctor and Caleb Foster, as well as a top-ranked recruiting class highlighted by No. 1 overall recruit Cooper Flagg and projected top-five NBA Draft pick Khaman Maluach.
Following Sheffield’s commitment, Duke now only has one remaining scholarship spot for the 2024-25 roster.
