JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (WNCN) — After winning nine games this season, Duke football has earned a trip to the 2024 TaxSlayer Gator Bowl.
The Blue Devils (9-3 overall, 5-3 Atlantic Coast Conference) will matchup against the No. 14 Ole Miss Rebels (9-3, 5-3 Southeastern Conference) in Jacksonville, Fla. on Jan. 2.
Duke opened the season winning five games in a row under new head coach Manny Diaz and gained eligibility back in October after beat Florida State in Week 8. In their final regular season game, the Blue Devils topped Wake Forest 23-17 in Winston-Salem.
The Rebels finished the season ranked No. 14 in the last AP poll. In their final regular season game, they topped rival Mississippi State 26-14 in the Egg Bowl the day after Thanksgiving. Ole Miss began the season as the No. 6 team in the country and was ranked as high as No. 5 before losing to unranked Kentucky on Sept. 28.
Ole Miss’ biggest win of the season was against then-No. 3 Georgia on Nov. 9 when the Rebels handed the two-time defending national champion Bulldogs just their second loss of the season
