DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) – The Duke men’s basketball team will square off against Auburn in one of the marquee matchups of the 2024 ACC/SEC Challenge.
The matchups for this year’s iteration of the challenge were unveiled on Wednesday, according to a report by CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein.
The Tigers are slated to travel to Cameron Indoor Stadium in Durham to take on the Blue Devils on Wednesday, Dec. 4.
Duke holds a 4-0 advantage in the all-time series, including the most recent matchup during the 2019 Maui Invitational. This will be the first time that Auburn has played at Cameron Indoor Stadium since 1981.
In the inaugural ACC/SEC Challenge this past season, the Tigers won 74-57 over Virginia Tech, while Duke lost 80-75 on the road to Arkansas.
Entering next season with expectations as a preseason top-10 team, the Blue Devils bring in the No. 1 recruiting class in the nation, highlighted by No. 1 overall recruit Cooper Flagg and projected top-five 2025 NBA Draft pick Khaman Maluach.
Meanwhile, Duke also returns veterans Tyrese Proctor and Caleb Foster, as well as adds incoming transfers Sion James (Tulane), Maliq Brown (Syracuse), Mason Gillis (Purdue) and Cameron Sheffield (Rice), providing a solid mixture of talent and experience for Jon Scheyer and his coaching staff.
This is the second year of the SEC-ACC Challenge. Other notable matchups involving Triangle teams include Alabama-North Carolina and Texas-North Carolina State.
